What Is Myo-Therapy & Physical Health

The Myo-Therapy & Physical Health Medical and/or Clinical Massage Distinction

Distinction between medical & clinical massage and other forms of bodywork is that clinical and medical massage is performed only on persons with diseases or injuries diagnosed by a doctor or chiropractor. The goal is to apply a therapeutic impact on parts, systems, and organs of the body using direct (local) and indirect (reflex) methods of treatment. Medical and clinical massage is a method of treatment with the same goal as any other medical procedure. I provide a very effect style of therapy for chronic and acute soft tissue pain.

The Myo-Therapy & Physical Health characteristic of medical and clinical massage.

  1. No lubricant is used, except in cases where classical massage techniques are part of the treatment or therapy. Therapy may also be performed clothed in many most cases.
  2. Treatment or therapy is restricted to parts of the body related to the pathological location. Full body is not warranted.
  3. Medical or clinical massage restricted to 1 hour maximum, generally about 40 to 45 minutes of active hands on treatment or therapy. In some cases sessions may fluctuate between 15 minutes and 60 minutes.
  4. After the first session, a 1 to 2 day break is issued to determine the reaction of the applied therapy or treatment.
  5. As a course of treatment or therapy, medical or clinical massage must be applied daily or every other day. Usually between 5 and 15 sessions will be required.  The specific number of sessions will depend upon the pathology and age of the client/patient. When necessary, the course of treatment may be repeated after a break of 15 to 30 days, once again depending on the pathology and the age of the client/patient.
  6. Each course of medical or clinical massage must start with an assessment and/or diagnostic session (20min. for new clients 10 for established clients), involving detailed questioning of the patient, palpation, passive and active range of motion to clarify the complaints and localization of the pain or any discomfort.
  7. All pathological changes detected during the first assessment and massage session will be recorded on prepared diagrams. These diagrams allow the practitioner to analyze every case and to observe changes which occur during the course of the therapy or treatment. Records can be shared with physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists or trainer to better improve recovery.
  8. It is mandatory that a rest period of 15 to 30 minutes occur after each medical or clinical massage session. The patient must either lie down or recline to decrease the possibility of side effects.
